Fitan or Fitnas (Strifes, Trials, and Tribulations)
Based on Omran bin Haseen, the Prophet said: " There will be (in Muslims' nation) four Fitnas (strifes, trials & tribulations): in the first one, (shedding) blood will become permissible to be encroached upon; in the second one, blood and money will become permissible to be encroached upon; in the third one, blood, money, and (women's) sexual organs will become permissible to be encroached upon; in the fourth, is the Dajjal." (Nuaim bin Hammad's book Fitan)
Abu Musa Al-Ash'ari narrated that Prophet Mohammad صلى الله عليه وسلم said: Between the hands of (meaning Close to) the Hour (of Resurrection), there will be Fitan (strifes, trials & tribulations) like segments (or periods) of dark night, a man wakes up in the morning as a Believer and by the evening becomes a Kafir (Disbeliever); or spends the evening as a Believer and becomes a Disbeliever in the morning. Whoever remains sitting (not fighting during the Fitna) is better than the one who stands up ready (to fight). The one who stands up ready (to fight) is better than the one who walks (to fight). The one who walks (to fight) is better than the one who is walking fast (to fight). So, break your bows, cut the strings (of your bows), and hit your swords against rocks. If you are attacked, be like the best of the sons of Adam (meaning best of humans)." (Ibn Maja) (a shorter variation of this Hadith is listed in Sahih Bukhari)

Abdullah bin Umar said: While we were sitting with the Messenger of Allah (Prophet Mohammad) صلى الله عليه وسلم , he mentioned the Fitan (tribulations), mentioning many of them until he mentioned the Fitna (tribulations) of Ahlaas. Someone asked him: ' O Messenger of Allah, what is the "Ahlaas" Fitna? He said 'It is fleeing and plunder. Then, will come Fitna (tribulations) of AsSarra'a (pleasure & prosperity): its smoke is under the feet of a man (descendant) from my household, who claims he is following me, but he is not because my Awlyia (followers or loyalists) are those who fear God. Then, the people will reconcile by choosing a man (to be a leader) who will be like a hip-bone on a rib (meaning he will not be able to hold a firm leadership grip). Then, the Duhaima (Dark & Cunning that catches people off guard) Fitna (strife, trial & tribulations) that will not leave anyone without slapping him a slap (testing his faith); if people say it is finished, it stays longer; a man who is in the morning a Mu'min (Believer) by the the evening becomes a Kafir (Disbeliever), until people will be divided into two factions: a faction of Iman (faithfulness in belief) without hypocrisy and a faction of hypocrisy without Iman (faithfulness in belief). When this happens, expect the (Fitna of) Dajjal that day or the next day'." (Sunan Abu Dawud, Hakim, Al-Zahabi, Ahmad, Al-Albany)

Abu Huraira said: "I have memorized from the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم two containers (containing two types of Hadith & knowledge). One of them, I have propagated it. The other one, if I propagate it, my throat will be cut off (he will be killed)." (Sahih Bukhari) Classical commentators such as Imam Bin Hajr al Asqalani (rah) in his book Fat'h Al-Bari mention that the second type knowledge withheld by Abu Huraira most likely consists of details and dates of future events, wars, and Fitan, including names of future leaders and evil individuals.

Abdullah bin Umar said I heard Messenger of Allah (Prophet Mohammad) صلى الله عليه وسلم pointing toward the East and say ' The Fitna (strife, trial and tribulation) is here, three times, where the two Horns of Satan rises'. (Sahih Muslim). It is worth noting that Sahih Muslim lists 6 very slight variations of this Hadith reported through different chains of narrators, but all of them are attributed it to Abdullah bin Umar This indicates it is a very reliable Hadith, since several people have reported hearing it. It is very rare that the same Hadith is listed 6 times in the same Hadith book. One variation mentions "Head of Kufr (Disbelief)" instead of "Fitna". The following is a variation of the above Hadith and it ends with "from where the Horn of Satan rises" حدثنا قتيبة بن سعيد حدثنا ليث ح وحدثني محمد بن رمح أخبرنا الليث عن نافع عن ابن عمر أنه سمع رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم وهو مستقبل المشرق يقول ألا إن الفتنة هاهنا ألا إن الفتنة هاهنا من حيث يطلع قرن الشيطان

I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, what is Harj?' He said '(Harj is) Fighting.' Some of the Muslims (who were present) said 'We fight now in one year so and so (number) of Mushrikeen (Polytheists).' Prophet Mohammad صلى الله عليه وسلم said: 'Not by fighting Mushrikeen (Polytheists), but rather by some of you fighting (or killing) each other, to the extent that the man fights (or kills) his neighbour, his cousin, and his relative.' Some people (who were present) said: 'While our minds are conscious? ' Prophet Mohammad صلى الله عليه وسلم said: 'No, the conscious minds of most people of that time will be removed. What will be left are people with no conscious minds.' " (Ibn Maja)

They said: 'O Messenger of Allah, this is (fair punishment) for the killer, but why the one who is killed?' He said: 'He intended to kill his friend (a fellow Muslim).' Its suffering is in this present life through Fitan (strifes, tribulations), Zalazil (disasters: earthquakes, epidemics, etc. ), and fighting (or being killed)." (Abu Dawud, Al-Hakim, and Al-Zahabi) In interpreting this Hadith, Al-Qari said that most of the suffering of Muslims as punishment for their bad deeds will be in this life. Sahib Fatih Al-Wodud said most likely Muslims will be forgiven by Allah in the hereafter (after-life). Al-Munawi said that Hell-fire will not touch Muslims organs that are cleaned with water daily during Wudu (ablution) before prayers. (Abu Dawud, Al-Haakim, Al-Zahabi, Al-Suyuti, Al-Albani)
(Ibn Maja, Al-Suyuti (based on Anas bin Malik), Al-Albani)

(Abu Dawud, and Tabari) Prophet Mohammad صلى الله عليه وسلم said: "At the end of my nation (or close to the Hour of Resurrection), there will be Maskh (change in physical appearance such as a human becoming an animal), Khusf (landslide), and Qazf (bombardment)." My God said 'O Mohammad, I decreed for you a decree which cannot be turned down. I gave you for your nation (Muslims) that I will not cause them to perish by wide-spread drought and I not to give power over them to an enemy who is not from among them and eradicates them even if people in all countries of the Earth unite (ally) against them (Muslims) so that they will perish each other and plunder each other." قَالَ Abdullah said that the Messenger of Allah said: " ' Islam started as Ghareeb and will return to be Ghareeb, so blessed are the Ghuraba (plural of Ghareeb).' It was asked: 'Who are the Ghuraba ?' He said: ' Those who left their tribes'. " (Ibn Maja) The literal meaning of the word Ghareeb is "Stranger" or "Someone who lives away from his homeland". Ghareeb is a variation of the word 'MuGhtareb' which is more often used in modern Arabic and which has the same meaning: "Someone who lives away from his homeland". However, as the prophet as indicated in this Hadith, Ghareeb can have two additional meanings: (a) someone who leaves the religion of his tribe or family, so Ghareeb can mean a convert, and (b) Al-Sundusi explained the meaning of Ghareeb as a person who leaves his family & tribe, emigrates to other countries for the sake of Islam, living away from his homeland, so Ghareeb means an emigrant.
